Scissor Lift

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Operate Scissor Lift (OSL) Course is aimed at providing individuals with the knowledge and skills to operate scissor lifts safely. At the end of the course, participants will be proficient in selection of appropriate scissor lifts, conducting risk assessment and route checks, identification of hazards for scissor lift operations, basic scissor lift operations and reinstating scissors lift in a safe manner.

Course Outline

  • Selecting appropriate MEWP, including risk assessment for the task to be carried out
  • Safety requirements under the WSH Act and the Code of Practice for Working Safely At Height related to MEWP
  • Conduct workplace inspection
  • Carry out pre-start inspection
  • State factors affecting stability
  • Identify common hazards of the MEWPs and their appropriate control measures
  • Function of all MEWP controls, including emergency controls and emergency procedures
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment appropriate to the task, worksite and environment
  • Operate the MEWP Safely through hands-on evaluation and test assessment
